According to a statement released by the commissionerate, team members would be conducting thorough patrolling for providing safety and security to women visiting different celebration venues.

The team is assigned with responsibility of initiating an effective action against the people involved in mischief or misbehaviour with women, while roaming in the mela.

The formation of a dedicated team is part of activities being organised under mission Sakti, for a week’s time. The police also launched an awareness program for sensitizing residents of the city.

It has also invited residents, especially women to visit those areas that are not safe for them. The statement says that it would help in strengthening community policing. It says that to promote community policing, it would like to invite women to walk down with them to all those sensitive areas, where they feel not safe for them. This would help in encouraging them to remove fear, besides increasing its reach with the public and building mutual understanding with residents in the city.

It shared a Google spreadsheet (https://forms.gle/nXjVZe7gpuEjfKVk6) for residents. They may enrol their names intimating that they would like to participate in it.

Besides, the police are going to make women’s desks at police stations more sensible and women friendly. Target has been fixed to meet the deadline, which is October 25. The existing desks would be renovated and intelligent police officers would be deployed on duty to deal with women sensibly.
