Dwarka RWAs raise their concerns with SDMC mayor

Members of various RWAs, along with residents, discussed issues related to civic amenities with Shyam Sharma, the mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), during his visit to a neighbourhood park in Sector 14 on Sunday for a tree-planting drive. The park was recently transferred to the SDMC from Delhi Development Authority.

SS Chowhan, president of Radhika Apartments, Sector 14, and Rakesh Godara, president of Om Apartments, Sector 14, raised the problems of garbage disposal and breeding of mosquitoes in the area.

K Wahid, president of Kautilya Apartment, Sector 14, brought up the issue of pending work of the SDMC in his society and maintenance of the central park inside the society, while Vinod Rawat, general secretary of Metro View Apartments, Sector 13, shared his concerns about encroachments of footpath and increasing number of vendors in the area.

The mayor assured them that he would look into their problems. He directed the officials on the spot to meet the RWA representatives and do the needful. He also spoke about an upcoming project in the area and asked residents to approach him directly if there is any problem that is under SDMC jurisdiction.

Rajesh Gehlot, former MLA of the area; Rajni Mamtani, president of garden committee of SDMC; Shashi Tomar, area councillor; and officials of SDMC horticulture department were also present on the occasion.
