SDMC inaugurates first automated multi-level parking in Lajpat Nagar

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta, MP Meenakshi Lekhi and SDMC Mayor Anamika on Saturday inaugurated automated multilevel puzzle car parking at Firoz Gandhi Marg in Lajpat Nagar-3. The newly constructed car parking facility will accommodate 264 vehicles at a point of time. 

On the occasion, former BJP national vice-president Shyam Jaju, deputy mayor Subhash Bhadana, standing committee chairman Rajdutt Gahlot, Leader of House Narendra Chawla, commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, chairperson of central zone Poonam Bhati, deputy chairman Vinod, chairman of construction committee Sunil Sahdev, additional commissioner Randhir Sahay, engineer-in-Chief PC Meena, deputy commissioner of Central Zone Awanish Kumar and senior officials from SDMC were present.

Praising the SDMC, Gupta said that the civic agency has been making all efforts to construct the automated car parkings in its area. These parkings are being constructed in areas where there is an urgent requirement of parking lots. Recently, the civic agency inaugurated a fully automated car parking in Green Park area and on Saturday it delivered another parking with a capacity of 264 vehicles in Lajpat Nagar. He said that despite facing a financial crisis, SDMC is achieving new goals.

Mayor Anamika said that the SDMC is achieving milestones in every field as it is committed to provide better services to the people living in Delhi. Fully automated car parking to accommodate 136 vehicles is operational in Green Park area, another parking facility with a capacity of 56 vehicles is near completion in Adhchini Village, and construction of an automated car parking to accommodate 136 vehicles in Nizamuddin Basti is in full swing. 

Besidens, another car parking with a capacity of 399 vehicles is being constructed in M-Block Market in GK-1 and a car parking to accommodate 210 vehicles is being constructed in M-Block Market in GK-2.

Commissioner Bharti said that the newly constructed multi-level puzzle car parking is spread over 978-sqm area and a total of Rs 27.18 crore has been incurred on it. Users can take out their vehicle in a span of 150 seconds while in traditional design it takes nearly 15 minutes. 

He said that the maintenance and running cost of this facility will be lesser in comparison to other lots as it is based on modern techniques. He said that the work of an automated car parking has been completed and a trial run has been carried out successfully.
