Delhi records 332 deaths; 17,364 new coronavirus infections

New Delhi: Delhi again reported daily deaths in excess of 300 due to coronavirus. The city reported 332 deaths on Saturday, taking the toll to 19,071. The Capital recorded 341 deaths on Friday, 335 on  Thursday, 311 on Wednesday, 338 on Tuesday, 448 on Monday and 407 deaths on Sunday.

The city reported 17,364 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking the cumulative tally to 13,10,231. Delhi reported 19,832 new coronavirus cases on Friday, 19,133 on Thursday, 20,960 on Wednesday, 19,953 on Tuesday, 18,043 on Monday and 20,394 on Sunday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 74,384 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 62,921 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 11,463 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate was recorded at 23.34 per cent. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.38 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

A total of 20,160 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 12,03,253 in the national capital. The active cases declined to 87,907 from 91,035 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 79,800 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 67,753 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 12,047 people received their second dose. So far, 37,46,494 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 22,289 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 2,451 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation slightly declined to 49,865 from 50,425 on Friday.
