Delhi records 319 deaths, 12,651 new coronavirus infections

New Delhi: After a gap of one day, the daily deaths due to coronavirus was again registered in excess of 300. The city reported 319 deaths on Monday, taking the toll to 19,663. The Capital recorded 273 deaths on Sunday, 332 on Saturday, 341 on Friday, 335 on Thursday, 311 on Wednesday, and 338 on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the new cases have dropped significantly and shown a downward trend in last two days. The city reported 12,651 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the cumulative tally to 13,36,218. Delhi reported 13,336 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, 17,364 on Saturday, 19,832 on Friday, 19,133 on Thursday, 20,960 on Wednesday, and 19,953 on Tuesday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 66,234 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 57,265 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 8,969 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate was recorded at 19.10 per cent. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.47 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

A total of 13,306 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 12,31,297 in the national capital. The active cases declined to 85,258 from 86,232 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 1,764 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,160 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 604 people received their second dose. So far, 38,77,400 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 22,667 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 3,229 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation slightly increased to 52,451 from 52,263 on Sunday.
