Overall coronavirus situation improves in Delhi

New Delhi: The overall coronavirus situation has improved in the last few days in the national capital. Most of the parameters have shown signs of improvement. The city reported 8,506 new coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the cumulative tally to 13,80,981.

Delhi reported 10,489 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, 13,287 on Wednesday, 12,481 on Tuesday, 12,651 on Monday, 13,336 new coronavirus cases on Sunday and 17,364 on Saturday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 68,575 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 54,042 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 14,533 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate declined to 12.40 per cent from 14.24 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.60 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

On the other hand, the daily deaths dropped below 300 after many days. Delhi reported 289 deaths on Friday, taking the toll to 20,907. The Capital recorded 308 deaths on Thursday, 300 on Wednesday, 347 on Tuesday, 319 on Monday, 273 on Sunday and 332 on Saturday.

A total of 14,140 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 12,88,220 in the national capital. The active cases declined to 71,794 from 77,717 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 1,23,517 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 82,943 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 40,574 people received their second dose. So far, 43,45,825 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 23,609 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 6,089 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation declined to 45,099 from 48,340 on Thursday.
