Dwarka: Three days after several trees were uprooted due to heavy rain, the authority is yet to clear the broken branches and tree trunks in Sector-9, Dwarka.

The whole footpath is covered with tree trunks and branches in front of the Singla restaurant, Sector 9. The authorities are doing nothing to clear the footpath and remove the uprooted trees from there.

“Commuters can get hit with falling branches. It's dangerous and prone to accidents as well,” said Raju Kumar, a roadside Momos vendor whose cart lies near the spot.

Residents and RWAs of the area said the sharp branches of the uprooted tree have been chopped off, but the tree remains there. They are not sure about who cut down the branches.

Sunitha Vyas, a commuter, said, "This is dangerous for commuters, and commuters can't park their vehicles and the whole footpath is covered with branches of trees."

Geetika Sharma, a resident of Sector-9 explained, "Most of the trees have weak roots, and can fall any time, particularly during the rains when the soil becomes soft. I don’t understand why the DDA has not allowed enough space at the base of the trunk for the roots to breathe. These trees become weak and eventually fall.”
