Noida: The Noida Authority on Friday swung into action to install anti-smog guns at Sector 18 market, Noida and other sectors. The appeal was made by Sushil Kumar Jain, President, Sector 18 Market Association, after pollution hotspots were identified at Udhyog Marg and Sector 18 market, Noida and other sectors.

Kumar said, “Pollution levels are rising day-by-day in Noida. For the greater good of the citizens, I appealed to the Noida Authority and CPCB to mitigate the situation on war footing as Noida is one of the most polluted cities in NCR. Seeing the incoming threat of Covid-19, it is essential for the Noida Authority to take action as the experts say Covid and pollution together can prove to be hazardous.”

Sushil Kumar Jain further in his appeal stressed the fact that on an average winter day, it gets difficult for one to get out because of the rising pollution levels. He said this seriously impacts businesses of the city as the footfall decreases in markets and people shift to e-commerce. Considering the fact that the festival season is coming, a situation wherein people stop coming out to markets will prove to be fatal and kill businesses in a period which supposed to be the most prosperous for us.”

He said that the Noida Authority should further increase the citizen participation in the drive against pollution and ask citizens to report cases of pollution to the authority. The authority in turn should take up immediate redressal and act on the complaint to eliminate the source of pollution.

Kumar concluded by saying that the authorities' responsibility doesn’t end here as other things like the installation of smog towers, vertical gardens in markets to reduce pollution are still left.
