Noida: Sunday’s rain was behind the flooded condition of the basement in Logix Blossom County, a residential society in Sector-137, Noida. Residents said that Logix Blossom County has reported a lot of cases of dengue.

There is also a Covid patient in the society who also suffered from Black Fungus and is finally recovering. Because of the dengue threat, he's not able to go out. The dengue threat is not new for society as the cases have been coming up in the last two years.

A resident, on the condition of anonymity, said, “We have two basements in our society. Basement 2 gets flooded whenever it rains and so residents don’t park their vehicles as it becomes dangerous. Waterlogging issue in our society is a problem which crops up every year, whenever rain happens.”

“There should be some infrastructure or mechanism which could restrict the water to get logged in the basement or other parts of society, but there is nothing like that here in our society. In basement 1, there is leakage everywhere. The infrastructure of our society has started crippling. I was admitted to the hospital last month due to dengue and we have many cases in our society,” he said.

Another resident, Kulpreet Ahuja, said, “I think we all residents should file an FIR at the earliest. We are not supposed to give our suggestions to these people and wait for them to revert and provide half-hearted temporary solutions. Our families are suffering from life-threatening diseases due to this. I think these deaf people need some serious treatment. We can't just wait and watch.”

Pawan Banga, a resident of the society, said, “Our society has a very high number of dengue cases. There are dengue patients in many towers.”

Manish Mishra, another resident, said, “The water in the basement does not accumulate only from rain. The entire drainage system of the society has deteriorated, due to which the problem is taking a serious form.”
“The pillars of the tower are weakening due to accumulation of water in the society, raising the apprehension that no untoward incident can be ruled out in the coming years,” said Gaurav Kumar.

Residents said that the condition of the society is very bad and the builder is nowhere on the scene. The matter has been reported to the Noida Authority but no action has been taken till now.

Manoj Prasad, a resident of the society, said, “In spite of repeated complaints to the builder Logix infrastructure Pvt Ltd, and competent authority, Noida Authority, nothing has been done to do away with waterlogging of the society and its basements. The seepage is visible enough to be declared as an alarming sign but the thick-skinned builder has only minting money on his mind. Apparently, the builder has not been maintaining the society and its common areas for a very long time. This is the same builder who holds dues of Rs 326 crore against the land lease agreement with Noida Authority.”

“There is a case under hearing in the Supreme Court of India, the judgement of which will decide the fate of residents. The big question asked is will the judgement provide any respite to structural harm that has been done by negligence of the builder? Also, another question I have for Noida Authority to answer is when the case was filed in the Supreme Court, why did Noida Authority not seal unsold units of builders to safeguard the rights of homebuyers? At least, money earned from these unsold units should have been utilised to pay for revenue of government and repair work of the structure/society neglected by the builder,” he said.
