Yellow alert issued in Delhi: What does it mean to you?

In the wake of the rising cases of Omicron in the capital, the State Government has issued Yellow Alert. The alert issued under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has resulted in several restrictions imposed in Delhi. The order, which is to be imposed with immediate effect, includes closing schools, colleges, movie theatres, gyms, and spas. Metro trains and buses, on the other hand, will be allowed to operate at half the capacity. Meanwhile, salons will remain open with local guidelines and protocols.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has assured that the Government was fully prepared to deal with the rise in infections. "We are 10 times more prepared than earlier to deal with the rise in Covid cases in Delhi", Kejriwal stated, adding that the cases which have been reported till now are mild. Furthermore, the Delhiites are requested to strictly adhere to Covid protocols like wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing.

The guidelines also stated that the night curfew will be enforced from 10 PM to 5 AM, with no weekend curfew. According to the government, shops and malls selling non-essential services or goods will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM under the odd-even rule.

Omicron, COVID-19 Condition in Delhi
The total numeral of the new Omicron variant cases mounted to 165 on Tuesday. Again, Delhi had recorded 331 new coronavirus cases, the highest single-day rise since June 9, 2021 and one death on Monday, while the positivity speed climbed to 0.68 percent, according to data shared by the city health bureau.
