The spread of Covid is accelerating in India with 2,82,970 new corona cases recorded on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, taking the tally to a total of 3,79,01,241. This includes 8,961 cases of the Omicron variant. The active cases pan India have now increased to 18,31,000, the highest in 232 days.
On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh reported 17,776 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the active infection tally to 98,238, while 9 deaths were reported. The total death toll in UP is now 22,990.
Noida recorded 1,403 new corona cases on Wednesday. Looking at the numbers, the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagara has issued some new guidelines.
Covid patients are divided into three categories-
The new guideline divides the covid patients into three categories- Mild, Moderate and Severe.
Mild- According to the revised guidelines, upper respiratory tract symptoms without shortness of breath or hypoxia will be termed as mild, for which ICMR advises home isolation and care. Those who are suffering
from difficulty in breathing, high-grade fever or severe cough lasting for more than five days will be treated as mild covid patients and will be given proper medical attention.
Moderate- The moderate cases will be in which there will be the symptoms like breathlessness with a fluctuating oxygen saturation between 90-93 per cent will be and oxygen support will be provided immediately.
Severe- Respiratory rate over 30 per minute, breathlessness or oxygen saturation lower than 90 per cent will be termed as severe disease and such patients have to be admitted to an ICU as they will need respiratory support, the note said. But the point to be noted is the use of a drug for patients who are not on oxygen support. But as per the new guidelines, the use of EUA or off label use of the tocilizumab drug, use of remdesivir in patients with "moderate to severe" disease and those with no renal or hepatic dysfunction within 10 days of the onset of any symptom, can be used in presence of severe disease preferable within 24 to 48 hours.
Information relative of Covid Protocol
- As per the new guidelines, the night curfew will be in place across the district from 10.30 PM to 6 PM every day.
- Swimming pools and gyms will continue to remain shut.
- Restaurants and Cinema halls can run with 50% capacity.
- Offices can work with 50% of staff and encourage work from home.
- Only 100 persons will be allowed inside a closed venue for weddings.
- Schools will remain shut till further orders.
Guidelines for home quarantine
Patients under home isolation will stand discharged and end isolation after at least 7 days have passed from testing positive and no fever for 3 successive days and they shall continue wearing masks. There is no need for re-testing after the home isolation period is over.
Generic preventive measures
- Stay away from elderly people, pregnant women, children.
- Restrict movement within limited premises.
- Don't attend any gatherings.
- Wash hands often with soap and water or with hand sanitiser.
- Avoid sharing household items like dishes, glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, bedding, or other items with other people at home.
- Wear a surgical mask all the time. The mask should be changed every 6-8 hours and should be disposed.
- Disposable masks are never to be reused.
- Masks used by patients are disinfected using an ordinary bleach solution and then disposed of by burning or deep burial.
- If symptoms appear person should immediately inform the nearest health centre.
- Only an assigned family member should be tasked with corona patient.
- Avoid shaking the soiled linen or direct contact with skin.
- Use gloves when cleaning the surfaces or handling soiled linen.
- Wash hands after removing gloves.
- Visitors should not be allowed
- In case the person being quarantined becomes symptomatic, all his close contacts will be home quarantined for 7 days
Environmental sanitisation
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in the quarantined person's room.
- Clean and disinfect toilet surfaces daily.
- Clean the clothes and other linen used by the person separately laundry.
