Wheelchair cricketers display their skills in Dwarka

Dwarka: Be it any corner of India, the love for cricket is universal. When it comes to cricket, emotions surge and nothing can stop you. Displaying this, more than a hundred wheelchair cricketers from across the country are showing their batting, bowling and fielding skills in Dwarka these days.

The occasion is a cricket league named “IWPL” (Indian Wheel Chair Premier League) organised at Bal Bhavan International School, sector 12 these days. The tournament is being organized for a week starting June 3, 2022. The final match will be held on June 25, 2022.

In the league, a total of eight teams from different states are participating. The inaugural ceremony was held on June 3 with a march past where around 150  enthusiastic wheelchair-bound cricketers took part. A friendly match was also organised to mark the initiation of the tournament. Former DCP of Dwarka Anto Alphonse inaugurated the tournament.

Mukesh Sinha, the convenor of the IWPL informs that this is the 3rd edition of the league in Dwarka. He says, “The league has become a popular event in the city after starting in 2018. Due to pandemic, it was not organised for two years but this time the event is witnessing a higher scale there are eight teams in place of six(as earlier)."
