Noida: On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, India’s largest ‘charkha’ (spinning wheel), made of plastic waste, weighing 1650 kg, was inaugurated in Sector 94, Noida, near Mahamaya flyover. The majestic charkha, which is symbolic of Gandhi’s dream of ‘Swadeshi’’ is made of 1,250 kg used plastic and measures 14 ft x 20 ft x 8 ft.

While inaugurating the charkha, Union Minister Smiti Irani said, “The gigantic spinning wheel is not only representative of construction and beautification but also represents our commitment towards the plastic-free campaign.”
