Two scooter-borne persons were detained by the police from Islampur, near Gurgaon, in the late hours of December 8 after they failed to account for notes of Rs 2,000 worth Rs 10 lakh.

The police were carrying out routine checks on the Islampur Road when the two men were stopped at 12:30 am. A search revealed the stash of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes.

ACP, Gurgaon, Manish Sehgal, said the police would not be able to disclose the names as it would hamper investigation. However, he added, "We will soon provide more information after the income tax department completes its investigation."
