After barely a month of peace, antisocial elements were again seen using a park in Block C, Sector 62, Noida, on the night of January 2. The miscreants stayed in the park till late at night, consuming liquor.

The park is a favourite with joggers in the area, with two 1.5-km-long tracks. As a result of the dip in temperature over the past few days, many of them had given their daily jogs a miss. Encouraged by the sight of the empty park, the miscreants decided to pay it a visit again. A month back, an FIR had acted as a deterrent.

"I informed the police about people drinking in the park," said PR Chandna, RWA secretary of Mecon Apartments, Sector 62. "These guys had stopped coming to the park after an FIR against them at the Sector 58 police station. I think they keep an eye on our activities. They may also be behind robberies and thefts in the area."

On receiving complaints against suspicious people, Nawab Ahmed, in-charge of the police post in Sector 62, met the residents of the society. He said they would ramp up police patrolling in the area, as suggested by residents. "I have shared my contact details with them and have asked them to keep me informed in case they spot any suspicious activity."
