Commuters using the city bus service of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) might just have to wait a little longer to avail of the mobile app, christened NMRC CBS — at least till the assembly elections are over.

According to an NMRC source, the app, which is set to have features such as e-wallet and route tracking, was to be launched sometime later this month, but will have to wait, as no new initiative can be launched when the model code of conduct is operative, as is now in Noida and Uttar Pradesh.

The source said the CBS application will also enable commuters to figure out the arrival time of a bus.

Besides, it will also have a security feature that will allow parents to get a notification when their kids have boarded a bus. The buses will be fitted with closed-circuit cameras connected to GPS. By accessing this feature, parents will be able see their kids in the bus real-time! This feature was added keeping in mind the safety of women, the source informed.

Another NMRC officer said they were exploring the catchment areas for ridership, as the city buses launched on five routes were not getting enough passengers.
