Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) met a French company, Dassault Systemes, on April 13 to discuss ways of making Gurgaon a smart city on the lines of Virtual Singapore.

The company is to provide proprietary solutions to help the administration carry out impact analysis.

Addressing the need for the initiative, MCG commissioner V Umashankar said, “We are working on gathering data generated from various systems implemented over time. The data can be migrated to any standard format for integration with advanced systems like the one being used in Singapore.”

Data, he added, will be used to integrate diverse systems that deliver various citizen-centric services.

“The concept of a smart city is a new one — it requires data that is sorted and evaluated. Our smart city will be based on strong fundamentals, and will provide a benchmark for others to follow," he explained.
