If you are taking the Metro, do be careful with your phones. Botanical Garden police chowki in Sector 38A, near Botanical Garden Metro station, gets 20 complaints of mobile thefts every month on average.

The number of complaints has increased rapidly in the past six months. Earlier, there would be 5 to10 complaints every month.

February saw 22 complaints, March 21 and April 18 so far.

Though, most commonly, mobiles are snitched during entry and exit into the trains, now the phones disappear even while inside compartments.

And the stations notorious for mobile thefts? Noida City Centre and Botanical Garden.

Sushil Kumar Rathi, officer in charge at the Botanical Garden police chowki, told City Spidey, “Since January, five mobile phones were recovered by the police. The pickpockets take advantage of peak-hour crowd and slip out easily unnoticed.”

He added, “Most pickpockets target commuters snoozing in their seats.”
