An elevated highway of more than 5 km in length is set to be constructed on Gurgaon-Alwar highway. It will begin from Subhash Chowk and will continue beyond Badshahpur village. This will ensure a hassle-free ride on this stretch on highway no 248A.
Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana minister for public works (building & roads), on April 28 said, “The cost of this project is Rs 1,385 crore and the foundation for the highway is likely to be laid by Nitin Gadkari [union minister for road transport and highways] anytime next month.”
The tenders for the project have already been floated following Gadkari’s approval of the project.
The elevated road would benefit commuters going to Sohna, Nuh, Palwal and Alwar. As of now, commuters face heavy traffic jam on this stretch during rush hours. With the construction of the elevated highway, the travel-time will be considerably reduced.
Singh said that the elevated road would be on single poles. This means that the present six lanes, which will be beneath the elevated highway after its construction, will also be available for traffic movement.
“Proper cuts will be provided in the central verge on the ground level road for commuters going towards Teekli village and other villages situated on arterial roads connecting Gurugram-Alwar highway,” he added.
