The construction of an underpass and a flyover on the road from Atul Kataria Chowk to Signature Tower is leading to nasty traffic snarls. Commuters complain it is taking them almost half an hour to clear this 2.5-km stretch during peak hours.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has recently widened its area of work on the underpass, leaving the road much narrower for commuters.

The stretch is critical, as it connects the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, Sector 29, HUDA City Centre Metro station and DLF Phase 4.

Apart from the underpass, work on the flyover at Maharana Pratap Chowk has only added to the chaos. However, commuters agree it is critical to have a flyover on this stretch if traffic congestion is to be eased from MG Road to Iffco Chowk.

“We really need a flyover here,” said Vikas Dhull, a daily commuter from Palam Vihar. “I used to get stuck here every day for hours on my way to office. But while a flyover is essential here, an efficient traffic plan needs to be implemented to manage vehicles during its construction.”

Traffic police officials said they are deputing personnel on the stretch during peak hours to ensure there are no snarls and commuters are not held up.
