Ahoy, it’s tree-planting time in Gautam Budh Nagar, thanks to Van Mahotsav, to be celebrated from July 1-7.

The administration plans to plant 4,60,370 trees in locations across of the district, with spirited participation from RWAs and government bodies.

They will not only take part in the planting drive but also make residents aware of the environmental importance of the act.

Under this programme, 1,49,000 saplings will be planted by the forest department, 16,700 by the rural development department, 6,000 by the secondary education department, 2,667 by the public works department, 11,700 by the department of primary education, and a whopping 2,69,200 collectively by the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Authority.

The rest of the trees will be planted by residents and the district’s horticulture department.

BN Singh, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, told City Spidey that this was a crucial step in today’s day and age. “It’s important that we maintain an environmental balance, and even more crucial that we make people aware about this,” he said.
