BN Singh, district magistrate (DM) of Gautam Budh Nagar, has ordered Noida Authority and other government bodies to ensure the guidelines laid down by National Green Tribunal (NGT) are implemented.

The DM ordered the officers to conduct campaigns to check pollution levels within the district. He also asked the Road Transport Office (RTO) of Noida to provide details of pollution certificates for all vehicles registered with them.

A transport department official said 4.5 lakh vehicles had been registered so far, of which 1.5 lakh did not have pollution certificates.

The DM told City Spidey that he has asked the pollution department of Gautam Budh Nagar to chalk out a roadmap to bring down the city's pollution levels.

He also said another serious environmental concern were the choked drains. "I have asked Noida Authority to clean all the drains before the rains. Officials who fail to enforce NGT's guidelines will be dealt with strictly," he added.
