The RWA of Sector 38, Gurgaon, recently spent about Rs 6 lakh to renovate two parks in Pocket C.

"If we hadn't done it, they would have been reduced to wastelands like the other parks," said Dayachand Thakran, president of the sector's RWA. "We spent more than Rs 3 lakh on each park."

Residents living in Pocket C are now contributing Rs 30,000 a month for the upkeep of each park. A gardener has also been employed to maintain the parks.

Both the parks have benches for the elderly, swings for children, a jogging track and a gazebo.

"I spend an hour in the park every day," said Ritika Jain, a resident. "I also get my kid along. She keeps busy playing, while I take a walk."
