With the monsoons rolling in, mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunia are set to make a comeback. So South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) decided to hold an informal awareness session for residents at Park No 3 in Sector 9 in the early-morning hours.

Chairman of SDMC standing committee, Bhupender Gupta, interacted with residents. Other SDMC officials were also present.

RP Gupta, senior secretary of Federation of RWAs of Sector 9 (FORWAS) and a resident of Sri Radha Apartments, also in Sector 9, said, "It was decided that an anti-larva chemical solution will be sprayed on a weekly basis in the area to check breeding of mosquitoes. Drains will be cleaned. Besides, a special cleanliness drive will be carried out in the sector this Saturday.”

Residents also made SDMC officials aware about stray dogs and pigs in the area.

"The chairman promised to look into the issues on a priority basis. FORWAS, too, has assured him full support and community participation," Gupta said.
