Noida Authority has finally pulled up its socks to get rid of encroachment in a vacant plot in Sector 74. This plot, located between Ajnara Grand Heritage and Supertech Capetown, had been earmarked for a park but had been encroached upon by a private builder, who was using it to store construction raw materials.
Om Veer Singh, director of horticulture, said that the area, which was under his jurisdiction, would be cleared in a week. He said the tender process for the development of this land into a park was on, and that it would take three months for work to begin.
Apart from storing construction material, the builder had also set up concrete batching machines for mixing construction material. Though the use of this had been stopped, the equipment was yet to be removed.
Residents also had another problem with the plot. They had recently complained to PK Agarwal, additional CEO (ACEO) of Noida Authority, that the area had become unhygienic, with sewer flow from both the residential societies into this empty plot of land. It had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and gave off a nasty stench.
This had attracted the ACEO’s attention, who had ordered Authority officers to look into the matter and ensure the problem was solved at the earliest.
