Residents of Mahagun Mascot, a residential society in Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad, conducted a Swachhta Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) in areas around the society today.

Participants included children, residents of the society and top officials of Ghaziabad police. HN Singh, senior superintendent of police, and SN Singh, SP (traffic), Ghaziabad, were also present at the venue.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sachin Vadera, one of the organisers, and also a resident, said the drive was conducted in order to spread awareness among residents and children about cleanliness and to stress the importance of clean surroundings.

“Apart from cleanliness, the police officials also briefed the residents on how to ensure the security of the neighbourhood. They also exchanged numbers for easy communication with the police,” Vadera added.

Residents felt such drives should not be limited to society premises alone – there are other places too that need to be cleaned up.
