Two people were injured in a shooting incident in front of Dwarka court a couple of hours back.

According to witnesses, two men on a bike opened fire on Ankit Dagar, one of the victims. A juice-stall attendant standing nearby was also injured. Both were rushed to DDU hospital, where Dagar's condition was declared serious.

Police revealed that Dagar had come to court for a hearing. He had been booked in a molestation case in 2014. The case had been filed by a married woman who Dagar was harassing.

The woman's husband, relatives and brothers‎ were present at court. An argument took place, which turned ugly. The victim then came out of court and was standing at the juice stall when the incident took place.

Residents of the area are in shock. President of Federation of RWAs (FORWA) and Ganpati Apartments, Sector 9, Advocate KS Bhati, said, "This incident has raised a question mark on the law and order situation in the sub-city. Dwarka is vulnerable to crime due to inadequate police staff, poor street lighting and improper patrolling. The administration should take this matter seriously."

Rajeshwar Dagar, an advocate at Dwarka court and resident of Guru CGHS in Sector 6, said, "The incident took place in front of Gate Number 3, on the other side of the road, where there are no CCTV cameras. There is hardly any security outside the court."
