Residents of Sector 22B, Gurgaon, have been living in perpetual fear, thanks to the defunct streetlights.

Despite several reminders to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) from the RWA, the lights have not been repaired.

Located in close proximity to village Mullahera, Sector 22B has 615 plots, with 1,800 families. The residents feel unsafe after sundown.

Despite having extensive CCTV coverage, the area is not secure in the absence of streetlights.

Incidents of car thefts and burglaries have often been reported from the sector. In fact, the parks become dens of shady activities in the dark.

“The women of the sector feel scared to venture out after dark,” complained Poonam Verma, a resident.

“The electrical engineer of MCG, Lalit Jindal, has been repeatedly evading our complaints and calls. We had to finally approach the MCG commissioner for a resolution,” said Bhim Singh, RWA president.

The meeting resulted in partial repair work last week.
