Culture has a way of teaching people to live and celebrate life together. And this is reiterated when even today, as, despite the pressures of modern living, people come together to celebrate festivals in true community spirit.

For the womenfolk of Ganpati Apartments in Sector 9, Dwarka, the annual Teej celebrations are an expression of solidarity. On Wednesday night, women of various age groups decked themselves in colourful finery and came together to observe the rituals associated with this festival, which also marks Parvati’s reunion with Lord Shiva.

Light moments filled with fun and frolic were abundant, as the women organised songs, dances and even a tambola.  The merrymaking culminated in a meal, animated conversations and laughter.

Sangeeta Kashyap, who is actively associated with the organisation of cultural activities at Ganpati Apartments, says “We organise such celebrations every year and thoroughly enjoy every moment. During Teej, our ladies play the traditional dhol and sing folk songs as well. Yesterday, though the celebrations had started a little late, we still enjoyed, like always.”
