Almost 20 Gurgaon residents got stuck in a lift on late Saturday night at the South Point Mall in Gurgaon. They had come for a party at the mall. Gurgaon police played a huge role in the rescue operations and managed to extract all the people safely.

It was a little short of midnight on Saturday, when the SHO of the police station in Sector 53, Inspector Rahul Dev, received a call informing him of the situation.

The police team reached the spot and called the rescue team. While the rescue team seemed to struggle with the job at hand, the the police stepped in and used a ladder to reach the lift.

“We had no option but to break the glass," said Dev. "There were 6 women and 14 men in the lift.”

Fortunately, there were no kids in the lift. Among the 20 people, 2 women were on the verge of losing their senses.

"They were stuck inside the lift for an hour," said Shobha Singhal, a bystander who witnessed the incident. "Police was informed almost half an hour after they got stuck and the entire rescue operation took 30 minutes."
