With the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) elections slated for September 24, the civic body is already on its toes.
The candidates, too, are inundated with paperwork, and preparations are in full swing.
In keeping with the guidelines, the MCG is removing all political hoardings and boards from across the city. It has four designated enforcement teams for different zones.
Zone 1 team is focussed on Pataudi Road, Sector 10A and Saraswati Enclave; Zone 2 is taking care of various parts of old Gurgaon, including Railway Road, Atul Kataria Chowk and Jharsa; Zone 3 is earmarked for MG Road and Zone 4 is removing political boards and hoardings from Bakhtawar Chowk, Sectors 38-39 and Sohna Road.
The MCG is taking all precautions to ensure that the election mandate is followed.
Gaurav Antil, joint commissioner of MCG, said, "In conformity with the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) orders, enforcement teams have been instructed to remove boards and hoardings. This will continue till September 14 when nominations are filed. All political banners put up now will be removed. We have 12 assistant returning officers (AROs), who will be looking after 2-3 wards each. The AROs will finalise places where hoardings and banners can come up. The candidates will then need to apply to their respective AROs for putting up hoardings."
