In a bid to clean neighbourhood drains, the AOA of Krishna Apra Gardens in Indirapuram took to the streets on Friday morning.

Speaking to City Spidey, the residents of Krishna Apra Gardens said that the drains were clogged with debris, silt and horticultural waste.

“We employed the maintenance staff of our society for this cleaning initiative. We also cleaned Tikona Park, a popular park in our neighbourhood,” said Mohit Dwivedi, AOA president of Krishna Apra Gardens.

The residents, along with the society maintenance staff, also conducted a tree-planting drive in the park. However, Dwivedi said that the park had also turned into a makeshift drinking place for anti-social elements after dark.

“People come here and consume alcohol and other narcotics. This starts in the evening and continues till midnight. We have found the park and drains littered with broken beer bottles, cans and cigarette butts,” he added.

The society also employed its security guards for the cleaning drive.
