The ghastly and gruesome killing of eight-year-old Pradyuman in Ryan International School, Bhondsi, has terrified the parents of school- going children in Gurgaon, just like anywhere else in the country.

Today residents of Sector 56 and 57 got a pleasant surprise when local councillor, Mahesh Dayma took the initiative to connect the parents and the local police for better policing near schools in the region.

The councillor got the residents in these two sectors to write an application to the local police station incharge and seek his cooperation for making schools a safer place for children.

The councillor and the parents urged the police to ensure that the children are safe inside and outside school premises by stepping up visible policing near schools.

"There is a need to sensitise the school and the police authorities for better care and security to be provided for children. We want the police to keep a close watch on schools in the area and ensure that no untoward incident takes place,” said councillor Mahesh Dayma.

He also said that the children ought to be educated about the good touch and the bad touch so that they can instantly alert elders whenever they suspect any potential sexual abuse.

Anubha Vikal, a parent of a student said, “If every school in the area takes the initiative and becomes more vigilant, we would feel more confident about the security of our children. Every councillor needs to take proactive steps, like Dayma, for the safety and security of the residents and children.”

Mahesh Dayma told City Spidey, “We all have to work together to make the educational environment safer for children and make sure that there are no more children falling prey to crime and criminals.”
