Following a complaint from residents of Noida Sector 52, the authority officials had carried out an anti-encroachment drive today to clear illegal occupancy on road sides. They cracked down on several encroachers’ and cleared a stretch of road in DVS Market, Sector-51. In the course of the drive that had continued for an hour in the sector, officials have taken down several stalls of vegetable and fruit vendors.

Sanjeev Kumar, General Secretary of RWA, Sector 51, said that since vendors had been occupying the roadside spaces, residents had been severely inconvenienced. Earlier, their complaints on this issue had been ignored by the officials. Finally, there has been some action. Kumar said that the drive will be continued as encroachments still remain on roads between Sector-51 and Kendriya Vihar, a residential pocket in Sector 51.
