Owing to Karva-Chauth celebrations on October 8, the ballot counting dates for the ATS Advantage Apartment Owners Association elections have been postponed to October 9. Casting of votes, counting of votes and declaration of results were originally all scheduled for October 8.  However, now only vote casting shall happen per schedule. The decision has been taken by sub divisional magistrate, Sanjay Kumar Bansal, who was appointed by the district administration as the election officer of the society.

These elections are taking place almost a year after the last residents’ body was declared time-barred by the deputy registrar basis.

The postponement of vote counting is raising objections. Some residents said that the delay might lead to malpractices like ballot tampering. However, speaking to City Spidey, Ashish Sahay, a member of the election committee said that the delay would in no way meddle with the election outcomes. The election involves around 1,100 voters from the society and is scheduled between 9am and 4pm.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sanjay Bansal, SDM, said that while preparing the election schedule, he was unaware that October 8 is Karva Chuth. “Karva Chauth celebrations include rituals in the evening for which the counting and declaration of results have been postponed to the next day,” Bansal added.
