The parks in Dwarka Sector 11 are starkly lacking in maintenance. According to residents of the area, two small parks under the municipal corporation and one big park under DDA are the most dilapidated. The municipal corporation parks are covered in wild bushes and devoid of lights and benches.

A resident of Gold Croft society, SC Gupta, said, “The corporation should at least clean these parks and provide benches and lights. Otherwise they become easy grounds for anti-social activities.”

On the other hand, the big park under DDA has broken dustbins and overflowing garbage. According to Gupta, neither DDA nor the municipal corporation has taken the onus of clearing the dustbins. “The dustbins are new but almost all of them are damaged,” he says.

The pedestrian paths around the parks are also covered in wild grass. Nand Lal, a resident of Rama Apartments in the sector, says, “It is difficult to understand why the authorities invariably always ignore the surrounding areas of neighbourhood parks.”

Speaking about the issue, mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, said that she would take necessary remedial action.
