Residents of Suncity on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon, have long been complaining about illegal construction on Economically Weaker Section, or EWS, plots, and how that’s putting a strain on common resources, such as water, power and roads.

There are about 60 EWS plots in the area, measuring approximately 64 square yards each. The plot owners have built multiple floors in these plots, giving out several floors on rent. This practice has led to a severe shortage of water and power supply in the society.

“The situation is getting worse by the day. The tenants put a huge strain on the common resources, and we residents are facing the brunt,” complained a resident of the area.

Another issue that has been plaguing the area is congestion on roads, owing to parking by tenants on internal colony roads.

Cornered and desperate, residents have now lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister’s Office, after local authorities turned a blind eye to the problem.

City Spidey tried to get in touch with officials of District Town Planning (DTP) enforcement, but no one could be reached.
