Gurgaon fire service detected several discrepancies in some properties in an audit and inspection that it carried out after the Kamla Mills fire claimed 14 lives in Mumbai. The areas audited on yesterday included mall mile on MG road, Cyber Hub and a few hotels.
Of the 26 restaurants in Cyber Hub, two were found to be operating with expired licenses. Fire department sources confirmed that these two hotels did not possess the NOC from fire department and were given a warning to apply and secure a license at the earliest.
On MG Road, two pubs were found with violations in fire-safety norms. Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers located in the properties were found to be faulty and the pub authorities were ordered to get them repaired at the earliest.
Fire officer IS Kashyap, who inspected hotels such as Trident, Oberoi and Lemon Tree, said the fire-safety equipment and other measures were up to the mark. The inspection of hotels and restaurants will continue today as well.
