Gurgaon may soon get a little safer for working women. A committee for sexual harassment cases has been set up at the district level, according to additional deputy commissioner Pradeep Dahiya.
He has directed all institutions in the district to submit their annual report on Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention and Prohibition and Rejection) Act 2013 by March 31, barring which they will attract a penalty of Rs 50,000.
Sexual harassment cases will be heard on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by the committee. All cases pertaining to harassment in government offices and non-government organisations with 10 or more employees will be heard. Cases related to sexual harassment of domestic employees will also be included.
Dahiya said that providing justice to women who have encountered sexual harassment was the main aim of the committee. Besides, it will also work towards creating awareness of sexual harassment against women.
