On Saturday morning, an 8-year-old girl in Greater Noida barely managed to escape from the clutches of a policeman, who allegedly tried to rape her.
The girl, from Kulesara village, who was on her way to school, was passing the local police post when a constable named Narender forcibly dragged her into his room in the police post and tried to rape her. Narender escaped when the girl raised an alarm.

The incident has enraged villagers and family members of the victim. They have protested at the police station in Ecotech-3, demanding the immediate arrest of the policeman.
The police have taken the accused into custody and are investigating the matter.
According to Anit Kumar, a circle officer at the Ecotech-3 police station, a case has been registered against the accused on the basis of a complaint filed by the girl's family members. He added that action was being taken against Narender.
According to sources, the victim's family hails from Azamgarh and lives in a rented house in Kulesara village.
