Residents of Antriksh Golf View 2, in Sector 78, Noida, today staged a protest against the builder, because maintenance charges were deducted from their prepaid electricity meters without any prior notice to them. Members of Noida Extension Flat Owners' Welfare Association (NEFOWA) were also present at the protest.

According to residents, Rs 1,000 each was deducted from their prepaid meters. “A few days back, the builder sent a notice to residents to deposit eight months' advance maintenance charges, but after residents spoke to the society management, it eas decided that a meeting would be held in the first week of March between residents and the builder to sort out the issue. But money for maintenance charges has been deducted from us even before that,” a resident said.

Shweta Bharti, a NEFOWA member and a resident of the society, said that early this morning, all residents received a message that Rs 1,000 had been deducted from their prepaid electricity meters. Thereafter, residents gathered in protest outside the builder's office.

She also said that the builder deducted not only maintenance charges but also water charges from their prepaid meters. “If the builder doesn't refund the money, there will be a huge protest on March 3 by us,” Bharti said.

Ranjan Samatrey, another resident, said that till date construction work in the society was incomplete. “We still don't have facilities such as swimming pool, clubhouse, parking and green areas, which were promised by the builder. Then why are we paying maintenance charges in the first place?" he said. "The builder also does not have the occupancy certificate for the society, so how is he charging us either maintenance or water bills?"

When City Spidey tried to contact the builder, he was not available for comment.
