The ruckus created by street vendors on the arterial roads of Indirapuram, might soon be a thing of the past. Officials of Ghaziabad Development Authority informed City Spidey that a proposal has been prepared to assign specific vending zones in the township.

According to the officials, four spots have been selected. “The first spot falls in an open area that is located near Shanti Gopal Hospital in Ahinsa Khand 2. The second and third spots are located near the Indirapuram Sewage Treatment Plant in Shakti Khand 4 while the fourth spot is located near the green belt that falls in the vicinity of Shipra Rivera Society,” said Hira Lal Singh, executive engineer of GDA.

Singh further said that the vending zones/spots would cater to around 1000 vendors. “The proposal has been sent to the vice chairperson of GDA and will be implemented after his approval,” he added.

Singh also informed that the four vending zones will accommodate regular vendors and vendors who set up shop during weekly markets.

For quite sometime, residents of Indirapuram have been complaining about the problems created by street vendors. Encroachment, traffic congestion and noise pollution are some major grouses.

Speaking to City Spidey, Alok Kumar president of Federation of Apartment Owners Association said that if these vending zones become a success, Indirapuram will get a facelift.
