Parents of school students in UP have to consistently face the burden of massive fee hikes and other unexplained charges by private schools across the state. Recently, the Yogi Adityanath government came up with the Self-Financed Independent Schools (Regulation of Fees) Bill 2018 to put a curb on schools charging exorbitant fees.

Shivani Jain, President All School Parents Association, Ghaziabad spoke to City Spidey regarding overcharging by schools and problems parents face as a result. She added that UP needs a proper education policy. Jain said that , "Rules and regulations are there in the system to keep a check on schools and their functioning. However, there's no authority to force schools to comply with those laws."
