The transfer process of the maintenance of eight privately developed colonies to the MCG has received a setback. Change in the position of the director-general of town and country planning (DG TCP) last month has thrown spanner in the works.
KM Pandurang assumed charge on March 26 from TL Satyaprakash, former DG TCP, and MCG officials are yet to receive any direction from the new DG on the matter.
ND Vashisht, MCG chief engineer, confirmed, “We have completed all the formalities from our side and are awaiting further orders from the TCP to go ahead with the next steps for the transfer.”
The process of transfer has been under way since February 2016 when Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had directed MCG to take over maintenance of some of the colonies. This issue was once again raised by residents of these colonies during Khattar’s visit to the city last week, prompting the CM to direct the MCG to rush the process.
Pandurang assured, “I’m looking into the matter and will expedite the process after examining the relevant details.”
The eight private colonies include DLF Phases 1-2-3, Sushant Lok Phase I, Palam Vihar, Suncity and South City I and II.
The MCG had compiled a deficiency assessment report on these areas, and subsequently prepared estimates needed by developers to uplift amenities prior to the transfer.
