Residents of Ghaziabad high-rises can now breathe a sigh of relief. The Fire Department will soon have a hydraulic platform of its own, which will allow firefighters to get to the highest storeys of a building. So far, the department had been hiring the platforms either from Noida or Meerut.

The platform has cost Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Rs 50 lakh. Manufactured in Gurgaon, it is expected to be delivered by July this year.

According to department officials, the hydraulic platform will help firefighters reach the 30th floor of a building.

RK Yadav, fire service officer (FSO) of the department, told City Spidey, "This platform was long overdue. This will make the task of firefighters a lot easier."

Better late than never.
