On Thursday, thieves stole batteries from seven cars parked outside their homes in Sector 12, Noida.

The matter came to light after the victims made a formal complaint to the police.

According to the police, the thieves first broke the glass of the cars and then stole the batteries by opening the bonnet.

“Rakesh Mittal, Sanjay, Ankit, Adnan, Rajesh, Vipin Rawat and Neeraj Sharma — all residents of Z block of Sector 12 — are the victims,” police said.

After returning from office, Ankit had parked the car outside his house. “In the morning, my neighbour called in to say my car's glass was broken. I immediately came out and tried to start the car. But it wouldn’t start as the battery was missing,” he added.

Mithilesh Upadhya, SHO of Sector 24 police station, said, “On the basis of the complaint, police lodged an FIR under IPC Section 380 (theft). We are now examining available CCTV footage from the area.”
