Fifteen candidates have put in their nomination papers to contest the by-election for the post of Mayor, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC).
While the Congress, BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) have fielded their candidates, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) opted to stay out. Shiv Sena and Peace Party have also joined the race. The remaining 10 candidates are independents.
Polling is scheduled for February 9 in which an electorate of 11, 77,264 are likely to cast their vote. Counting of the votes will be carried out on February 11.
