The residents of Alpine Society of Sector Pi-IV, Greater Noida, are a hassled lot. Some days back, all the roads within the society were dug up for pipe-laying work, but nothing has started yet, neither have the dug-up portions been filled up.

A resident, Sumant Kumar, told City Spidey that the situation has gone from bad to worse. Not a day goes without some one or other falling into the open pits. They have complained to the Greater Noida Authority, but to no avail.

Describing a similar experience, Suresh Kumar, another resident, says he too fell into one of the open pits while leaving his flat. But fortunately for him, the pit was filled with rainwater, so he wasn’t hurt.

When contacted by City Spidey, the senior manager of Greater Noida Authority, Anand Mohan Singh, said that the pipelines were being replaced as the old ones had gotten rusty. He added that the work of laying new pipelines will start soon.
