To create a green corridor, Iamgurgaon—a city-based NGO, carried out a massive plantation drive in Sikanderpur on Wednesday.
Local residents, members of Iamgurgaon and officials of Municipal Corporation Gurugram participated in the drive. Around 350 students from The Sri Ram School, DPS Ghaziabad, DAV Sector 14, and Scottish High International School, also participated in the event and planted saplings across 60 acres of land. The students also took a pledge to save the environment and conserve water.
On the occasion, varieties of native species of Aravali such as Doodhi, Dhak, Marorphali, Goya Khair and others were planted. During the drive, Vijay Dhasmana, an ecologist talked about the significance of native trees and creating an urban forest.
Latika Thukral, Co-founder Iamgurgaon, Namrita Choudhary, Nidhi Kankan, Vasundhara Agarwal and Smita Ahuja were present on the occasion.
