Greenwoods Officers Welfare Society in Greater Noida is usually deserted after dusk.

More than 50 per cent of the society's street lights have been non-functional for months now. Numerous complaints to the authorities have failed to yield results.

Mangla Singh, a resident, told City Spidey that most of the street lights have been out for the past few months. "It is difficult for residents to venture out after dark," he added.

Preetam Gupta, another resident, said the street lamps had been out for four months and Greater Noida Authority has done nothing about it. Gupta added that the evenings are pitch dark. "Residents do not let their children play outside after dusk," said Gupta.

Senior manager of Greater Noida Authority, Anand Mohan Singh, when contacted by City Spidey, admitted that they had received complaints about the street lamps. He said that instructions had been given to change the non-functional lights and repair the disconnected wires of the street lamps.

It's been four months already. About time.
